Healthworks®, in conjunction with ResMed (a leading respiratory medical device manufacturer, specialising in products for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disordered breathing), provides a unique sleep well education and intervention program that can be incorporated into a corporate wellness or OH&S program.
The program includes:
This 60 minute seminar covers basic facts about sleep, why we need it, how much we need and hints for getting enough sleep. During the seminar participants will be asked to complete the 8 item Epworth Sleepiness Scale questionnaire to assist them to identify the presence of a sleep related issue. Participants will also receive their own copy of the Sleep Well booklet.
At the conclusion of step 1, interested employees can sign up for the follow-up workshop. This workshop demonstrates how to use the overnight monitoring device i.e. ApneaLink, for an overnight sleep screen.
The ApneaLink monitor is a portable mobile phone size device that is worn overnight to collect information about breathing patterns during sleep to help identify a risk of sleep disordered breathing.
A report is generated from the overnight data i.e. an individuals Apnea / Hypopnea Index or AHI. This indicates the likelihood of risk for Sleep Disordered Breathing.
A confidential phone consultation (for detected high risk persons) will be provided - such as recommendations for further testing at a sleep clinic and / or the provision of a report to the participants GP.
Participants may choose to attend an appointment for further testing at a sleep clinic.
